Race_Horse_Animation_by_AkiChevalThe New York Times released and article on September 21, 2013, looking again at medications and racing horses.  This time, it was from the point-of-view of veterinarians who prescribe drugs to racehorses, often at the insistence of trainers.  It is not a pretty story.

DR. RAMEY NOTES:  As societal concerns about animal welfare mount, the liberal use of medications in performance horses (ALL performance horses – don’t think for a minute that this problem is limited to racing horses) will come under increasing scrutiny.
