How the Zebra Got Its Stripes

DR. RAMEY NOTES:  Zebras are among the toughest and meanest animals out there.  I recall working on one at the Houston Zoo a number of years back.  It had a hoof abscess that would have crippled a horse.  The poor thing was barely limping.  Their temperament is also likely the reason why they’ve never been successfully domesticated – if they could have been domesticated, they certainly would have been domesticated (like most other equids).
