Just published research in the journal Veterinary Surgery concludes that “Shockwave” Therapy (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy, or ESWT) does nothing for experimentally induced tendon injuries.

DR. Ramey NOTES: “Shock Wave” therapy was very popular a few years back. Everything from tendon injuries to arthritis to back pain was treated with these expensive machines, with little scientific evidence to suggest that they were useful. As time passes, it seems like they really aren’t useful at all. Just one more example of why you should ask for good evidence of effectiveness before spending lots of money on a treatment.
